Overview

Each year thousands of us fail to return home from work or simple trips.  Of course we intend to return home so we don’t notify anyone that we are leaving.  There are many reasons why we may not make it home (such as a car accident, an unexpected illness, or any other type of emergency).  The important questions to ask are:

     Who would know if you didn’t come home? 

     Who would know to take care of your pets if you didn’t come home?

PetCheck Alert™ is designed with these questions in mind.  It is an easy-to-use automated program that alerts someone that you didn’t make it home and have pets that are unattended. That “someone” is an Emergency Contact that knows where you live and has access to your home. 

Using any Internet-capable device, you login to the PetCheck Alert website and create an "Event" with a time you plan to be home from a party, movie, concert, work, church, the gym, etc.  You can create as many Events and Emergency Contacts (providing their contact iformation) as you want.  You select your Emergency Contact, save the Event, and logout.    

Our program begins monitoring your Event based on your expected return time.  You may cancel your Event at any time; however, if you don't cancel the Event within an hour after your expected return time, PetCheck Alert will start a series of alerts over the next four hours.  We use the three most common forms of communication today: email, text and phone. These methods ensure anyone with an Internet capable device and/or telephone (mobile or landline) can receive our alerts.  You may choose all or any combination of these methods of communication for the hourly alerts.

For the first two hours, alerts are sent  to you reminding you to cancel or extend your Event.  If you still haven’t cancelled or extended your Event during these first two hours, more alerts will be sent over the next two hours -- to both you and your Emergency Contact.  Your Emergency Contact is told when you should have returned home and is asked to look after your pets. The program is so sophisticated that it can detect if your Emergency Contact's landline is busy, regenerating another call approximately 15 minutes later.  Voice messages left on mobile phones or landline answering devices are repeated to avoid any clipping of the messages.  All of this is to ensure that you and your Emergency Contact receive these important messages.  To capture the attention of the call recipient, we have created a special lead-in sound clip.  Please go to our FAQ Page to listen to this sound clip.

Any device with Internet access can utilize PetCheck Alert (smart phones, note pads, computers, etc.).  There is nothing to install, and our proprietary program resides on secure servers.  Once you set an Event, PetCheck Alert functions independently from your devices. For example, if your phone is damaged or lost in a car accident, the notifications will still be sent and your Emergency Contact will know to take care of your pets.  (He or she will know to check on you, too!)
